GyroHSR CEO reaches halfway mark in his £20k fundraising challenge for Macmillan

LONDON – (October 2, 2009) – Richard Glasson, CEO of international marketing agency GyroHSR, is preparing to tackle the third event in his five-part “Run Glasson Run” challenge. Having already raised over £14,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, next week Glasson will run the New York City Marathon as part of his ongoing quest to reach his £20,000 fundraising target by the end of the year.

Run Glasson Run was borne out of Richard’s determination to honour his mother’s legacy after losing her to cancer last summer. Richard Glasson said: “My mother, Julie Glasson, was a nurse for her entire working life, but unfortunately passed away too quickly to benefit from the support of a Macmillan nurse. Raising money for the charity therefore seemed a very appropriate way to remember her and support the work of this hugely important charity”.

As part of his challenge Glasson has already raced the toughest section of the Tour de France and completed an IronMan 70.3 Triathlon. After running the New York Marathon next week he will be tasked with tackling the madness of the Hellrunner cross-country ordeal, before rounding things off in December with the off-road Helly Hansen Adventure Race.

Katy Chaytor, Communications Officer, Macmillan Cancer Support added, “Richard’s legacy to his mother couldn’t be more impressive. When he recovers from his exhaustion, he should be very proud that his efforts will help so many others affected by cancer to the practical, emotional and financial support that Macmillan provides. Richard’s hard work will mean the difference between a good and a bad day for many cancer patients and we hope he’ll receive plenty of support for such an ambitious fundraiser!”
